Emerging issues in revitalizing public administration

The Trustees serve as the focal point for women issues throughout the Administration.

The following issues need the attention of the Committee of Experts in Public Administration

Consider two issues that have been part of recent bilateral trade agreements pushed aggressively by the Bush administration.

At the same meeting, the Committee decided to review future strategic directions for revitalizing public administration in the light of emerging global issues.

Such coordination could be achieved by establishing a focal point in the Military Adviser's office for UNMO policy issues, including security, administration, liaison and training.

Leading issues under consideration included the proper administration of prisons, possible alternatives to imprisonment, modes of rehabilitating convicts, treatment of juvenile offenders and extradition treaties.

They carry out seminars in the National School for Judges and the National School of Public Administration, where emphasis is given to issues concerning women refugees.

Gender issues were also addressed by the National Human Rights Office, the State Labour Inspectorate, the Latvian School of Public Administration and the Central Statistical Bureau.

Comment by the Administration. UNRWA considers that implementation of the cash management module will not yield benefits commensurate with the work involved in resolving outstanding issues.

Issues still outstanding in that area include the request of the Court's administration for additional funding for the needed expansion of the use of advanced technology.
