A speaker called on UNICEF to strengthen its advocacy role at the national level to influence policy makers and to ensure ownership and coordination in the area of psychosocial interventions for children.

It is providing financial support to the Organisation in the areas of universality, national implementation and international cooperation in the field of chemical activities.

Actions to be taken by the General Assembly

Support for the judiciary

Support in the area of the rule of law, including assistance to law enforcement and criminal justice reform, but also innovative crime prevention action, is necessary to assist Governments to meet these challenges.

Drawing on its competencies in emergency WASH programmes, UNICEF will provide appropriate assistance to governments and other stakeholders in the development of national plans for WASH emergency preparedness.

(d) Management of administrative support services and monitoring of the management reform process and of the implementation by the Secretariat units located at Vienna of the Management Policy Committee directives and decisions in the field of management

Supporting national platforms for disaster risk reduction with information and policy advice, acting as a broker for the provision of technical expertise and resources to national and thematic programmes

That means providing human and intellectual support.

That means providing policy and technical support.

Support for intergovernmental bodies

Endorses the UNICEF water, sanitation and hygiene strategies for 2006 2015 (E ICEF 2006 6) as the UNICEF official strategy document for programmes of support in the area of water, sanitation and hygiene.

Recognizing the importance of consultation and cooperation with indigenous people in planning and implementing the programme of activities for the Decade and the need for adequate financial support from the international community,

Backup will be provided by regional offices and through partnerships with specialist WASH organizations and consultants as appropriate.

The project creates a knowledge base to support countries in reorienting policies towards integrated health and social care systems serving older populations.

In a climate of decentralization and public sector reform, UNICEF will continue to support national governments in formulating policy, and providing financial, technical and capacity building support.

Thus, one area in which international support should be aligned with African efforts is that of providing funding for these three critical dimensions of public service capacity building.

Focus area 5 Policy advocacy and partnerships for children's rights

(a) The General Conference, one of the three principal organs of UNIDO under Article 7.1 of the Constitution, which determines the guiding principles and policies of the Organization

9.59 The Division for Social Policy and Development will deepen its capacity for policy and substantive support to the Commission for Social Development, including a more integrated approach to social inclusion and emerging issues related to social development.

(f) Provision of advisory services with respect to industrial policy development and analytical support of governmental and institutional structures in African countries, including support to the secretariats of NEPAD, the African Union and regional economic communities

Farmers who are interested in the adaptation of sustainable energy must look to general non specific industry programmes to find funding, support or policy direction.

A summary of the audited accounts and balance sheet shall thereafter be published.

In order to achieve the objectives set out in Article 1, the Organization shall undertake policy work and project activities in an integrated manner.

Providing catalytic and continuous support for scaling up sustainable WASH programmes

Staff outreach support is also provided.

At the same meeting, the Council adopted draft decision III, entitled Report of the Commission on Science and Technology for Development on its eighth session and provisional agenda and documentation for the ninth session of the Commission recommended by the Commission.8 See Council decision 2005 309.

The emphasis on each type of support will vary from region to region, as will the number of specialized WASH advisory posts required in each regional office.

One of the priorities of his Government's economic policies with respect to indigenous peoples of the North was a gradual transition from direct State support of the regions to the establishment of favourable economic conditions for self development.

The main factor contributing to the variance of 21,946,400 under this heading is the proposed increase in the number of international staff by 122 personnel, from 975 to 1,097.

The MINUSTAH police component continued to provide operational support to the national police.

We support the Secretary General's recommendation that it is vital for the international community to provide the necessary financial support to develop African Union peacekeeping capacity and to establish the African Standby Force (A 60 182, para. 81).

The Programme supports the Organization's continuous improvement and learning process.

In the Andean region, continued support to sustainable livelihood schemes remains of high importance.

HIV support

Support will take the form of periodic visits from regional WASH advisors and qualified professionals from regional and global rosters for the development of hygiene promotion packages and emergency preparedness plans and for technical support in water quality and sector monitoring.

WASH emergency preparedness

Support for addressing adolescent learning needs and expanding their learning opportunities is encompassed under focus area 2.

Implementing the new WASH packages of support will require an increase in funding to UNICEF from the current level of 160 million to a target of 250 million per year.
