At the meeting, which gathered some 150 participants, a clear message was conveyed by high level officials participating in the Forum emphasizing the importance in developing partnerships with civil society for achieving the Goals.

As a result of the report submitted on this task, Plenary adopted an Administrative Decision that Participants should use Kimberley Process Certificate based data when submitting trade data, thereby improving the comparability of statistics provided by Participants.

To this end the major focus of the meeting was the identification of specific measures which should be taken within the context of current discussions of reform of the Commission on Human Rights, the Secretary General's proposals for reform, and the OHCHR Plan of Action.

Based on intensive work carried out by four working groups, the meeting agreed upon the following steps designed to ensure that the special procedures system would be able to carry out effectively its role at the core of the United Nations human rights programme.

In the Plan of Action adopted at the end of the meeting, participants urged their respective States to become parties as soon as possible to the universal instruments against terrorism, the Organized Crime Convention and its three Protocols and the Convention against Corruption.

Experts participating in the workshop considered comments submitted by many Parties before the meeting and developed a list of items which it believed could form the basis of a conceptual framework on cooperation addressing illegal trade.

The 15 participating leaders adopted a declaration highlighting mutually inclusive and mutually reinforcing interreligious, intercultural and inter civilizational initiatives, all designed to promote peace at the local, national, regional and international levels.
