Ukraine has created a State programme for the disposal of that significant amount of dangerous material.

In pursuance of the Act, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted resolution No. 62 of 21 February 2002 on State regulation of the transit of special cargoes and troops across the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which establishes the procedure for the carriage of special cargoes and troops.

Our Governments have long expressed concern about the transportation of hazardous materials through the Caribbean Sea, given the risk of serious damage to its fragile ecosystems and marine resources, which are vital to our existence.

It should be mentioned that the explanatory note to the said Act provides that, in view of the dangers involved in the handling of hazardous waste, the importation of such waste and the granting of permission for the introduction or passage thereof into or through the Arab Republic of Egypt are absolutely prohibited.
