Be that as it may, given the repeated attention by the General Assembly to the issue of workload standards and ways of measuring productivity and quality, the Committee believes the work done by the task force should be elaborated upon more fully.

The task force is, therefore, conscious of the particular challenge of identifying criteria for the periodic evaluation of such conduct and policy.

Labour standards are especially important in economies that do not have established social security systems. They are generally designed to protect workers from the arbitrary actions of employers.

These developments will be the subject of a document before the Committee on the Application of Standards of the International Labour Conference in June.
