The request for country profiles has always been part and parcel of the national reporting by affected country Parties.

The Committee discussed its reporting guidelines while keeping in mind the need to streamline reporting under the different United Nations human rights treaties as well as the desirability of an expanded core document.

The Advisory Committee encourages the efforts by the Department of Peacekeeping Operations and the Department of Management to review and streamline the process of reporting.

9. Production of national reports contemplates a major and meaningful preparatory process involving participation by an array of key actors at all levels.

NFPs NCBs will organize a one day national consultation in the capitals to launch the formulation of national reports on implementation of the UNCCD.

It is intended that further managerial tools will be developed to support members in carrying out their managerial functions.

The reports indicate that the scant involvement of research institutions in the NAP process is largely due to their limited technical and financial capabilities.
