As you recall, the informal meeting has been scheduled to give you all an opportunity to discuss issues contained in my non paper, and in particular the agenda of the Conference for the current session.

Note Pursuant to resolution 13 31 P on the review and rationalization of agenda items and resolutions of OIC, all resolutions previously adopted by the Conference of Foreign Ministers are considered to be in force and are not listed on a regular basis.

At the top of the agenda should be ratification of improvements to a crucial nuclear security instrument theConvention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material.

The simple idea was to use a well established mechanism of the General Assembly and unused funds allocated to the Conference to get some work done until such a date when the Conference agrees on a programme of work.
