We believe that one sided and unbalanced resolutions aimed at isolating and alienating Israel, such as the resolution on the risk of nuclear proliferation in the Middle East, do not contribute to the establishment of a nuclear weapon free zone.

Israel's construction of the separation barrier bore heavily on the lives of Palestinians in the West Bank, ghettoizing the Palestinian communities there and depriving them of access to parts of their own lands and to places of work, education and health care.

Israel's recent withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and parts of the West Bank was a step in the right direction, but it should be seen as just one element in the road map towards the creation of a viable Palestinian State.

Israel's actions should not prejudge final status issues or threaten longer term prospects for peace by making the creation of a viable and contiguous Palestinian State much more difficult.
