The Law Development Section of the Commonwealth Secretariat continued its work on the promotion of the Commonwealth's Model Laws.

In 1999 Commonwealth Law Ministers mandated the Commonwealth Secretariat to look at the legal implications arising from the use of technology in order to assist Member Countries to take full advantage of the opportunities presented by technological developments.
