The allegations, which come from various parts of the world, demonstrate that indigenous people are vulnerable to various forms of discrimination based on their ethnicity.

Discrimination and exclusion result in poverty, low literacy levels and poor health, and make these groups particularly vulnerable in the labour market.

The Committee is particularly concerned about the situation faced by women belonging to vulnerable groups and at the instances of multiple discrimination they may be subject to (art. 5).

Gender discrimination on the labour market is often related to the more vulnerable status of women already during the job seeking phase, as employers tend to overestimate aspects not related to job duties of the employee.
