Our Supreme Council for Family Affairs, in particular the Department for Youth, has developed a national strategy for youth.

Work on a Department wide comprehensive training strategy was under way and should be completed by the end of 2005.

Cold War strategy, Truman signed the National Security Act of 1947 and reorganized military forces by merging the Department of War and the Department of the Navy into the National Military Establishment (later the Department of Defense) and creating the U.S. Air Force.

The new strategic approach adopted by the Department now seeks to focus on key messages as part of a coordinated communications strategy.

The approval role of the Department with respect to the Director's travel requests is only to ensure that travel is in line with the approved strategy and programme of work.

Mr. Flanagan (Mine Action Service, Department of Peacekeeping Operations) reviewed several notable achievements over the past five years under each of the six strategic goals of the United Nations mine action strategy.

The Department should ensure that appropriate mission level planning documents include a strategy for community support projects that takes into account the needs of the population on the ground and overall mission objectives.

The Consultative Committee notes the ongoing efforts of UNIFEM to finalize the framework for collaboration with the Department of Peacekeeping Operations and the Department of Political Affairs with a view to devising a joint strategy for implementation of Security Council resolution 1325 (2000) and encourages UNIFEM to bring these efforts to a close.

The training capacity comprises four departments the Training Department Infantry at Arlon, the Training Department Armour Cavalry at Leopoldsburg, the Training Department Artillery at Brasschaat and the Training Department Engineers at Namur.

The Department of Political Affairs, the Department of Peacekeeping Operations and the Department of Safety and Security are working to address those challenges.
