The beginning of the revision was mandated by the Statistical Commission in 1999 in conjunction with the ISIC revision. The revision of the CPC was conducted in two distinct steps.

In the interests of efficiency I would like to read out the revision, rather than seeking yet another technical revision.

It should include a comprehensive and binding revision clause ensuring that the state of public finances and collective investment needs are reassessed at the halfway point.

Revised SDS's should clearly state the date of issue as well as a version number, revision number, supersedes date or some other indication of what version is replaced.

This revision is using a unique approach.

The first questionnaire, sent out in 2001, solicited general proposals for the CPC revision to develop a better understanding of countries' needs in the revision process.

The third enquiry in the present ISIC revision process provided, along with the questionnaire, a full detailed structure of the ISIC, Revision 4, complete with explanatory notes.

Since the 1986 constitutional revision, a state of siege could no longer be declared in the event of a serious disturbance or obvious threat to public order and security owing to internal dangers.

With that revision, the Swiss proposal was adopted.

Throughout the revision process, the various drafts of the CPC revision were prepared by the Technical Subgroup, with the monitoring and guidance of the Statistical Commission and the Expert Group.

The consultative process for the revision of the Central Product Classification was based on the same principles and mechanism as the revision of the International Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities.

A more thorough revision of the 40 recommendations was adopted in 2003.

It recommended undertaking the revision of the ISIC in two distinct steps.

Changing needs on the ground had necessitated a continuous revision of military operations and other substantive components of the Mission's mandate, leading to the necessary revision of its logistical and administrative support components.

Since the CPC has been revised at shorter intervals than the ISIC, it was expected that the revision of the CPC would be much less extensive than the revision of the ISIC.
