The highlight of this regulation is that it makes all academic staff obliged to report any sexual harassment to responsible agencies.

In preparing the present report, incidents affecting the safety and security of United Nations staff and operations have been itemized by geographic region.

As noted in my previous report (S 2005 506), MONUC has a very high rate of attrition and difficulties in recruiting qualified staff.

The report can be dismissed as just the musings of two senior members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff writing in their personal capacity.

Staff

Over the last year, UNIDIR had 29 staff members, 2 of which were directing staff, 3 support staff (administrative and technical), 5 core substantive programme staff, 12 project research staff and 7 visiting research fellows.

7. Requests the Secretary General to report to the General Assembly at its sixty first session on the use of retired former staff and to develop clear criteria for the selection of the retired former staff, in particular in the Professional category
