Its radiation risk assessments provide the scientific foundation used by the International Commission on Radiological Protection in developing its recommendations for radiation protection and by the International Atomic Energy Agency in formulating its Basic Safety Standards for the protection of people and the safety of radiation sources.

The authority has received the International Regulatory Review Team and Radiation Safety Infrastructure Appraisal international peer review missions, and has an aggressive action plan to address the recommendations of these missions.

One provided direction on international cooperation and burden and responsibility sharing in mass influx situations while the second provided recommendations regarding legal safety issues in the context of voluntary repatriation of refugees.

The resolution also commended WHO and the World Bank for the initiative of launching the World Report on Road Traffic Injury Prevention, which contains a number of recommendations to guide road safety in countries.

In that connection, we support many of the recommendations presented in the WHO report to the Assembly, which, we believe, will be able to contribute to the promotion of road safety, particularly in developing countries.

Lastly, it looked forward to discussing the recommendations made in the report of OIOS on the utilization and management of funds approved for strengthening the security and safety of United Nations premises (A 60 291).
