(a) The application of an ecosystem approach to oceans management

The implementation of an ecosystem approach to management is a complex task.

Its basis is integrated oceans planning, founded on an ecosystem approach to management.

One of the technical tools that requires priority attention is the ecosystem approach in oceans management.

The precautionary principle and the ecosystem approach are fundamental to the conservation and management of fishing resources.
