Corporate campaign contributions increasingly undermine the democratic process, with the blessing of the US Supreme Court.

In the process, the Court has also contributed to the development of principles governing State responsibility.

Uruguay has been involved in the process of the establishment of the Court from the very beginning.

In order to ensure effective, integrated development, the Court has made a priority of establishing a strategic planning process.

We welcome the Secretary General's suggestion that the important role of the International Court of Justice be reaffirmed and that a process be started to strengthen the work of the Court.

In America, this process depends on the state, level of court, and even agreements between the prosecuting and defending parties.

(a) To observe the evaluation and selection of Supreme Court judges and associate judges in order to confirm that the process is impartial, transparent and credible

Although the process of evaluating and selecting future members of the Court is the exclusive responsibility of Ecuadorians, the Law on the Organization of the Judiciary invites the United Nations, the European Union and the Andean Community to observe the process.
