The Congress of Vienna Revisited

In the 1815 Congress of Vienna treaty it became part of Congress Poland, a client state of the Russian Empire.

Others were created as sovereign states after the Congress of Vienna in 1815.

This provision resulted in the Congress of Vienna, held between September 1814 and June 1815.

Following the Congress of Vienna of 1815, Warsaw became the centre of the Congress Poland, a constitutional monarchy under a personal union with Imperial Russia.

After the fall of Napoleon, the Church State under the pope was reinstated through the Congress of Vienna of 1814.

It emerged from the Congress of Vienna in 1815 as one of the continent's four dominant powers and a recognised great power.

The name was resurrected after the Congress of Vienna for a short lived province of the Kingdom of Prussia between 1815 and 1822.

In 1815 during the Congress of Vienna, Prussia gained the western third of the Warsaw duchy, which was about half of former South Prussia.

On 9 February 2005, the delegation of Thailand held an informal briefing for permanent missions in Vienna on the arrangements for the Congress.

Two years later, the Congress of Vienna added the southern Netherlands to the north to create a strong country on the northern border of France.

The Congress of Vienna settlement, despite later changes, formed the framework for European international politics until the outbreak of the First World War in 1914.

Prior to the opening of the Paris peace conference of 1918, the British Foreign Office commissioned a history of the Congress of Vienna to serve as an example to its own delegates of how to achieve an equally successful peace.

Indeed, it is no accident that Henry Kissinger s masterpiece, A World Restored, was devoted to the study of the recreation of the world order by the Vienna Congress after the rupture of the French Revolution, followed by the Napoleonic adventures.

The product of that process, contained in the annex to the present document, is submitted to the Eleventh Congress by the Commission, pursuant to the decision taken at its intersessional meeting, held in Vienna on 1 March 2005.
