OIOS will seek to achieve that objective within existing resources, in collaboration with the Office of Programme Planning, Budget and Accounts, pending the approval of the 2006 2007 proposed programme budget.

In order to do proper planning for Council missions, it was suggested that they be funded through a standing budget, rather than through last minute ad hoc appeals.

28B.5 During the biennium 2006 2007, the Office of Programme Planning, Budget and Accounts will focus on further refining results based budgeting and results based management, including improvements in budget presentation.

The regional commissions participated actively in the 11 thematic clusters of the Committee that were established for the planning and coordination of activities included in the proposed programme budget.

The planning and budgetary processes were aligned and simplified through the use of the same results based budgeting logical framework for both the budget and the biennial programme plan.

28B.8 As in prior years, part of the budget of the Office of Programme Planning, Budget and Accounts will be financed from extrabudgetary resources derived from programme support income received as reimbursement for the services provided by the central administration for extrabudgetary activities, funds and programmes.

However, the term is most frequently used in relation to planning for the use of land and related resources, for example in urban planning, transportation planning, etc.

A workshop on gender sensitive planning was held for officers responsible for local planning administrations in order to find ways to integrate gender considerations into local planning.

The existence of these detailed strategic planning documents greatly facilitated the preparation of the programme and budget document in line with RBM principles.

The Department of Economic and Social Affairs currently administers IMDIS in collaboration with OIOS and the Office of Programme Planning, Budget and Accounts.

Many countries13 reported on initiatives and pilot projects in various ministries, covering different areas, that aimed to incorporate gender perspectives in budget planning.

The lower requirements result from the fact that the Mission is planning to enter into a service contract for its interpretation and translation needs, while the budget for 2004 05 provided for the hiring of local language assistants.
