The new European Financial Stability Facility (EFSF) is not up to the task.

Europe now has such an institution in the form of the European Financial Stability Facility but the EFSF needs to be much better financed to allow it to fulfill this function.

Some propose bringing in the European Central Bank to leverage the EFSF s funds.

But this has changed with the creation of a European rescue fund in the form of the European Financial Stability Facility (EFSF).

The Industrial Development Board recommended that the General Conference approve the revised text of paragraph 5 of the annex to the financial regulations, as contained in the annex to document IDB.30 4.

This is what inspired the decision taken in May to create the European Financial Stability Facility (EFSF), by which assistance can be provided, jointly with the International Monetary Fund, to partner countries in times of crisis.

The first step was taken recently when the European Financial Stability Facility was authorized to rescue banks as well as governments.

The game started with the bailout fund for Greece, which was followed by the European Financial Stability Facility, the European Financial Stability Mechanism, and the International Monetary Fund, which in turn were relieved by the ESM.

Turkey has established a Financial Stability Committee to oversee effective and timely implementation of policies directly affecting the financial sector, and an Economy Coordination Board to monitor and evaluate issues concerning overall economic stability.

The trouble is that if macro pru does not work, the interest rate would have to serve two opposing goals economic recovery and financial stability.

The EFSF will also provide funds to ensure that Irish banks depositors can get their money back today.

A return to pre 2007 levels of macroeconomic and financial stability would support growth.

A second positive sign is the recognition that not all crises are rooted in a lack of fiscal discipline it is now agreed that financial and macroeconomic stability also matter.

The EFSF might be just enough to guarantee the public debt of the four problem countries, but certainly not their banking sectors liabilities as well.

On 10 May, the Committee considered a report by the Director General on the amendment to the annex to the financial regulations (PBC.21 4).

Portugal has had to ask for assistance from the EFSF and the International Monetary Fund.
