Future work of the Forum

These initiatives provide valuable expert input to the work of the Forum, with reports being made available for consideration at the Forum sessions, and have influenced policy developments at the Forum.

Future work of the Forum.

The proposed organization of work of the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues at its fourth session (see annex) has been prepared by the secretariat of the Forum following consultations with the Members of the Forum.

At its first session in 2001, the Forum had noted the value of multi stakeholder dialogues in advancing the work of the Forum.

The secretariat of the Forum has judged the activities of these organizations to be relevant to the work of the Forum and they have been approved by its Bureau accordingly, it is recommended that they be granted observer status by the Forum.

The Forum encourages national committees for the Decade, where those exist, to invite members of the Forum to participate in the activities of these committees.

A number requested that the reports submitted by them to the Forum at previous sessions be regarded as constituting a report to the Forum at its fifth session.
