A new law prohibited racial discrimination in the field of employment, and the penalties for engaging in employment discrimination on racial grounds had been increased from a maximum of one year to three years or more.

In the absence of any prohibition of discrimination in public service employment, the Committee requested the Government to provide information on the measures taken to ensure non discrimination in that sector, including at the stage of recruitment.

Prohibition of discrimination in employment and occupation. The Committee noted that section 3 of the draft Labour Code prohibits all discrimination in employment and occupation.

Existing public statistics, it is believed, do not provide enough relevant information to analyze the possibility of discrimination in employment or housing.
