1. The status of persons concerned as habitual residents shall not be affected by the succession of States.

Since 2004, his Government had approved the resettlement of some 2,500 Myanmar persons of concern, most of whom had taken up residence in the United States.

Parties have therefore adopted clear positions in favour of a simplification of the formalities surrounding the granting of residence permits or refugee status, so that all who are duly entitled can have their situation speedily regularized.

Comprehensive plans of action for repatriation, self reliance in host countries and more resettlement solutions were needed.

In the light of the above information, the Government of Saudi Arabia does not consider their arrest as arbitrary detention but rather as arrest for the commission of an ordinary criminal act.

Both the feelings of the people involved and the particular circumstances in Greece had to be taken into account, and it must not be forgotten that the problem was part of a larger Balkan issue.

Nothing in the present articles precludes States from treating persons concerned, who have become stateless as a result of the succession of States, as nationals of the State concerned whose nationality they would be entitled to acquire or retain, if such treatment is beneficial to those persons.

We are not large enough yet that we have all the relevant people on English Wikipedia, and we will probably never be because there are always specialists in other countries with very specific knowledge that we can leverage.

The results shocked the researchers involved.

Death sentences handed down afterwards had been reviewed by the courts the persons concerned had either been granted a presidential pardon or had had their sentences commuted to a maximum of 25 years' imprisonment.

Also requests the ad hoc group to continue extensive consultations with regional and international intergovernmental organizations, non governmental organizations, local associations, academics and other competent persons, and through regional seminars to ensure in particular the involvement of persons living in extreme poverty

Support and reinforcement of the families of the people involved

If, however, it emerges that the people concerned are to be regarded as an indigenous group, it will be necessary to determine whether the State acknowledges that they have that identity and how it would propose to deal with that dimension of the situation.

Emphasizes the obligation of all States to accept the return of their nationals, calls upon States to facilitate the return of their nationals who have been determined not to be in need of international protection, and affirms the need for the return of persons to be undertaken in a safe and humane manner and with full respect for their human rights and dignity, irrespective of the status of the persons concerned

While noting the explanations provided by the delegation that all persons have the freedom to make their own choice with regard to the application of statutory, customary or religious law, the Committee notes that concerned persons may not necessarily be in a position to exercise individual choice in the matter (art. 5 (a)).

Mr. Lavalle Valdés (Guatemala) said that the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Crimes against Internationally Protected Persons, including Diplomatic Agents, of 1973 established a broad protection regime for the persons in question.

These remain our commitments on the basis of these commitments we remain open to a variety of partnerships.

Because denial of POW status to combatants potentially entails life or death consequences for the persons concerned, such status determinations should be made in strict conformity with applicable laws and procedures.

States should ensure that all affected persons are made aware of the restitution claims process, and that information about this process is made readily available, including in countries of origin, countries of asylum or countries to which they have fled.

Article 2 of the ordinance provides for a freezing of assets and economic resources (including the ban on making assets or economic resources available to the persons or entities covered) in accordance with paragraph 3 (e) of resolution 1591 (2005).

12. Requests the Office of the High Commissioner, with that sustained support, to continue to fulfil the mandate conferred upon it by its statute and by subsequent General Assembly resolutions regarding refugees and other persons of concern, in close cooperation with its relevant partners
