The Humanitarian Coordinator for Haiti presented a concrete example of how transition programming, following a natural disaster, is being tackled in the field.

The Department sponsors a Security Information Group composed of the following offices and departments of the Secretariat the Department of Political Affairs, the Department of Peacekeeping Operations, the Department of Safety and Security and the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

In those emergencies and some 27 others, the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs is providing support to United Nations country teams through the resident and humanitarian coordinators.
