The Security Council recalls the provisions of resolution 1591 (2005) concerning the Sudan.

An appeal in respect of such a decision may not be submitted to the Joint Appeals Board.

Security Council resolution 1559 (2004) was adopted on 2 September.

By resolution 1512 (2003), the Security Council granted the request.

On 26 March 2004, the Security Council adopted resolution 1534 (2004).

The adoption of the resolution was preceded by intensive consultations and discussions within and outside the Security Council.

We welcome the progress made in the implementation of Council resolution 1540 (2004), as well as in the work of the Security Council Committee established pursuant to that resolution.

It is clear that the time for a decision on Security Council reform has arrived.

As recognized also in Security Council resolution 1624 (2005).

The resolution draws heavily from resolution 1546 (2004), which remains the cornerstone of Security Council consensus for Iraq.

It has now been five years since the Security Council adopted the landmark resolution 1325 (2000).

It also seeks to address the fundamental imbalance in the composition of the Security Council.

The second opportunity lies in resolution 1540 of the United Nations Security Council.

The text of this governmental decision will be submitted to the Chairman of the Security Council Committee established pursuant to paragraph 14 of Security Council resolution 1572 (2004) immediately after its entry into force.

The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lebanon addressed the Security Council before the vote and called upon the Member States of the Security Council to withdraw the draft.

Mr. Ali appealed this decision to BIA and on 9 June 2004 BIA upheld the decision not to release him on bond.

21. Requests the President of the General Assembly to bring to the attention of the President of the Security Council the contents of the present resolution

We would like to note, however, that the decision taken by the Security Council is not fully satisfactory to us.

With the adoption of Security Council resolution 1325 (2000), the Council affirmed its commitment to the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.

The Security Council is also very explicit in considering that the resolution constitutes a step in this direction .

First, it reaffirms the commitment to strengthening the United Nations, including the Security Council.

This august Council, by adopting this resolution, has once again ridden roughshod over the African position.

Draft resolution A 59 L.68 permanently accords Africa six seats on the Security Council.
