Law on labor regulates protection and rights of the employed child bearing woman, while the law on protection of children regulates and establishes rights of the child and unemployed child bearing woman.

Adoption, as an institution of legal protection of parentless children, is regulated by the Family Law (arts.

The Labour Law provided for the right for the father of a child to use maternity leave on the death of a mother, in case a mother abandoned a child or is otherwise prevented from using this right.

UNICEF also initiated a programme to promote and monitor the rights of children and women, and supported the development of a draft juvenile justice law and a draft penal code.

The Law on labor allows for a father of the child to use the right to maternity leave in case of the child's mother's death, in case the mother abandons the child, or if she is prevented from exercising this right due to valid reasons.

With the new Afghan Juvenile Code 2005, which incorporates provisions of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the age of criminal responsibility has been raised from 7 to 12 years old.

In the 1980s China introduced a one child policy that restricts many couples from having more than one child with several exceptions for rural couples, people without siblings, and others.

In the event of artificial insemination of a woman with the sperm of a man who had not granted his consent thereto or had declared his consent void, the issue of the child's filiation will be settled pursuant to the provisions of the Family Law Act.

It must be confirmed that the Dutch parent lives with the foreign mother and has cared for the child for three years (Netherlands Nationality Act, section 6, subsection 1, opening words and at c).
