Firms operating in competitive markets are under constant pressure to out perform each other.

Increased competitiveness can result from the growing reputation of a Singaporean firm in both domestic and foreign markets.

Under this agenda item, the Commission will examine the market access, market entry and competitiveness of selected dynamic and new sectors of world trade.

Apparel production is a prime example of China s declining competiveness in markets dependent on low cost labor.

Here, I draw particular attention to access for our products to developed markets and the subsidies and other forms of domestic support granted by the wealthy countries to their farmers, which impair the competitiveness of our products on world markets.

The experience of Iceland and many emerging markets over the past 20 years shows that nominal depreciation and orderly restructuring and reduction of foreign debts can restore debt sustainability, competitiveness, and growth.
