The project has been evaluated and positively approved by the GoE.

The GoE made the following recommendations

The open ended expert group held five meetings.

I have also selected Mr. Ka to chair the Group of Experts.

Several members of the GoE, experts included in the Roster of Independent Experts, and others, assisted in the review process.

C. Conclusions of the Expert Group on Distributive Trade Statistics

The GoE reached the following three conclusions

On behalf of the members of the Group of Experts on the Democratic Republic of the Congo, I have the honour to transmit herewith the report of the Group of Experts, in accordance with paragraph 22 of Security Council resolution 1596 (2005).

In accordance with paragraph 11 of the terms of reference, the secretariat supported the implementation of LEG activities and facilitated the preparation of the group's reports for consideration by the SBI.

Global assessments The global report would be produced by a drafting team of experts under the purview of the GCG.

The SBI encouraged the CGE to continue its coordination efforts with the NCSP and other expert groups under the Convention and requested the secretariat to support the efforts of the CGE.

Recommendations by the Expert Group on International Economic and Social Classifications

The survey was based on the recommendations of the ad hoc expert working group.

The composition of the group should be approved by the ad hoc steering group.

Taking note of the report of the Group of Experts on ammunition and explosives,

I have also selected Mr. Bodian to chair the Panel of Experts.

Accordingly, the Expert Group considered a number of issues.

Report of the Intergovernmental Group of Experts on Competition Law and Policy

In terms of the GoE activities, it is suggested that workshops at the national level be organized as a pilot activity aimed at training some members of the GoE and the UNCCD focal points.

The Expert Group agreed on a schedule to undertake intersessional work in preparation for the Expert Group's second meeting.

The Expert Group requested the Secretariat to edit the revised guidelines and further elaborate the individual booklet model to be submitted to the Expert Group for consideration at its next meeting.

Decides to refer the report of the Intergovernmental Group of Experts on Review of the Rules of Observer Status at the OIC back to the said Group for reconsideration.

The Secretariat gave a brief presentation outlining the work that it had undertaken in preparation for the Expert Group meeting, drawing attention in particular to the steps taken to ensure the participation of experts and observers in accordance with the terms of reference for the Expert Group.

A smaller ad hoc team, the World Atlas Team (WAT) should be established within the frame of the GoE under the leadership of the coordinator of the work plan task.

The project proposal has been positively reviewed and approved by the GoE.
