The Consultative Group of Experts on National Communications from Parties not included in Annex I to the Convention (CGE), the Expert Group on Technology Transfer (EGTT), and the Least Developed Countries Expert Group (LEG).

The Expert Group agreed to conduct its work in plenary and to establish such contact groups as necessary, which would be open to observers as well as to members of the Expert Group.

The Technical Expert Group met in Geneva from 8 to 11 November 2005.

The Expert Group expressed strong support for the establishment of such a mechanism.

Possible elements of a new mandate for the Least Developed Countries Expert Group

The actual status of the group as a subgroup of the Expert Group on International Economic and Social Classifications was subsequently questioned by the ILO, but it still intends to report back to the Expert Group on work carried out until 2007.

The Monitoring Group was based in Nairobi and comprised the following experts Bruno Schiemsky (Belgium), arms expert and coordinator Melvin Holt, Jr. (United States of America), arms expert Harjit Kelley (Kenya), maritime expert and Joel Salek (Colombia), finance expert.

The Expert Group agreed to set up a contact group to discuss the matter further, which reported back on its work.
