(c) Continuing to follow the recommendations of the international expert Workshop on Data Collection and Disaggregation for Indigenous Peoples

The participants in the national expert workshop,

Their work has helped to shape an understanding of how such controls might be put in place.

The common objective should be to finalize the work among the experts as far as possible.

Various activities have been undertaken by the secretariat in supporting the CST programme of work and the activities of the Group of Experts (GoE).

There is no agreement yet on this issue, and the work of the expert groups is ongoing.

The Panel noticed a general movement of people into mining areas in search of work.

The SBI may wish to address issues relating to expert meetings and workshops.

Noting with appreciation the support that the secretariat has provided to the Least Developed Countries Expert Group,

A revised version of the paper was discussed at the seventh meeting, covering securing financial resources, institutional arrangements, further prioritization, monitoring and impact measurement of proposed activities, and mainstreaming.

This seminar is included in the programme of work of the EGTT for 2005.

A number of speakers indicated that their Governments supported the work of the Intergovernmental Expert Group.

In terms of the GoE activities, it is suggested that workshops at the national level be organized as a pilot activity aimed at training some members of the GoE and the UNCCD focal points.

The participants had before them a draft agenda, a draft programme of work and documents prepared by participating experts (documentation made available for the workshop is listed in annex II).

Worth noting are the positive dynamics in the work of the 1540 Committee, benefiting from the active support of the expert team.

The reports submitted by country Parties and the synthesis and analysis documents that were prepared by the programme enabled the review carried out by CRIC 3.

There are now accusations, however, that the state's investigations have become chaotic and hostile , and that the authorities leading the inquest have obstructed the work of international experts.

In accordance with rule 12 of the draft rules of procedure being applied, and in agreement with the Chair of the SBI, these items are included in the supplementary provisional agenda below as sub items 5 (b) and 5 (c).

Takes note of the recommendations contained in the report of the Second Meeting of the aforementioned Experts Group, in particular setting up of a working group.

To complement UNCTAD's work on corporate governance in the context of the Intergovernmental Group of Experts on International Standards of Accounting and Reporting.

The European Commission has agreed to support the work of the GoE by convening the fourth meeting of the Group in the second half of 2005.

In addition, the following experts also contributed to the work of the task force Fateh Azzam, Sakiko Fukuda Parr and Margot Salomon.

(a) To take note of the roster of experts nominated by Parties who could be invited to support the work of the Committee

In addition to providing training for national experts, the seminar resulted in the adoption of a strong recommendation and a plan of action.

The work of the Expert Group on Multilateral Approaches to the Nuclear Fuel Cycle also contributed to those efforts.

No provisions have been made under the programme budget for the biennium 2004 2005 to convene the expert consultation of three working days.

The 2005 Meeting of the States Parties shall also determine the duration of the sessions of the GGE PrepCom, taking into account the workload of the GGE in 2006 and the time needed for the adequate preparation of the Review Conference.

In his closing remarks, the Officer in Charge of DITE summarized experts' views on UNCTAD's work programme in this area.

We also thank the Committee's Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team for its work to improve the effectiveness of the sanctions regime.

The expert consultation aimed to identify priority issues in the follow up to the 10 year review and appraisal of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.

The GoE may wish to ask CST Bureau members to organize workshops on desertification assessment for coordinating ongoing projects.

It ensures the participation of CSOs in global forum activities and liaises with industry related CSOs and those in consultative status with UNIDO.

(b) To consider the need to invite experts to support the work of the Committee at its third meeting and in the intersessional period leading up to it.

The representative also invited the experts present at the seminar to actively contribute to the working group on an optional protocol to the Covenant.

In addition, it was suggested that awareness raising regional workshops should be held in the intersessional period leading up to the second meeting of the Expert Group.

It would also be useful to organise an expert workshop, as long as it focused on policy options, not just a review of data and technical matters.

The EGTT could contribute directly to the programme of work on adaptation in the area of technologies for adaptation and in related subject areas.

Activities could include cooperating on authoring technical papers on adaptation technologies and participating in the preparation of a handbook or manual for the assessment and development of project proposals for funding.

(b) To decide on a work programme for the assessment of assessments , to be proposed by the group of experts through the lead agencies, and to distribute it to the States Members of the United Nations

The Council also decided to invite experts to participate in the meetings of the Commission when priority subjects addressed in the Copenhagen Declaration and Programme of Action were under discussion.
