Today, an arc of crisis stretches from Somalia on the Indian Ocean across the African Sahel to the Atlantic coast.

There are two possible rafting routes, either across the Atlantic Ocean from Africa or across the Caribbean from North America.

The deep water flows through the Antarctic Ocean Basin around South Africa where it is split into two routes one into the Indian Ocean and one past Australia into the Pacific.

We started in Bermuda for our test project, then moved up to Halifax, working down the U.S. East Coast, the Caribbean Sea, the Panama Canal, through to the Galapagos, then across the Pacific, and we're in the process now of working our way across the Indian Ocean.

Japan s entry into the TPP this spring was a game changer. With a GDP matching that of all other TPP partners combined (with the exception of the US), Japan adds significant economic heft.

The disparity between the parties in terms of economic size the EU s GDP is almost three times larger than Japan s is not so wide as to lead to the strong arm tactics seen in the EU Canada talks (a relationship in which Europe has a tenfold advantage in terms of output).

In short, with the TPP, the US is catching a big fish with small bait. But the increased trade and investment flows brought about by the TPP s ratification and implementation will benefit even the countries that must make larger sacrifices.
