Common services in Vienna Buildings Management Service

(a) Buildings Management Service costs charged to UNIDO.

Under the regular budget, the net amount required for recosting is 5,893,056.

The BMS operations are further split into two components

The impact of the expected revision of the post adjustment factor for Vienna amounts to 4.0 and 5.8 per cent for 2006 and 2007, respectively.

With the upkeep and updating of the installations and equipment, BMS provides services as required by the organizations occupying the VIC complex.

The contributions against the Buildings Management Services amounted to 57,538, which were cost shared with other Vienna based organizations.

The General Fund and Working Capital Fund now show only UNIDO's contribution to BMS costs.

The reduction is due to the fact that BMS has regained full control over the relevant projects and interactions with third parties, including the Austrian Government, during 2004, and has therefore been able to secure unexpected and additional funds for the BMS budget.

They are structures protruding from the buildings to catch the wind and direct it into the buildings.

Following the methodology adopted in the programme and budgets for the biennium 2002 2003, Major Programme H (Buildings Management) remains a separate, self balancing Major Programme.

Of this amount, a total of 1.2 million is being financed through the buildings management programme, since this portion of the work represents maintenance type costs.

The costs of occupying commercial building premises are not limited to rent but include many additional charges which would normally fall under the purview of the Department of Management.

The asbestos removal programme is now progressing in accordance with the revised timeline, and the accumulated funds on the BMS special account are being utilized in accordance with the original purpose.

As at 31 December 2004, contributions outstanding to the special account for Buildings Management from the VBOs are 4,815,676.

(c) The expenditure level for Buildings Management in 2004 amounted to 17.4 million, or 73.3 per cent of the appropriations for that year.

The portfolio mix will remain diverse, comprising complex, full service operations management portfolios and portfolios involving the provision of individual service support processes and inputs.

Amongst them are the initial buildings of the Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, Iran., the Persian Heritage Center, the Faculty for Business Management of the Tehran University and the Embassy of Iran in Beijing, China.

(ii) Building use

General description These two Programmes are presented jointly, since they share a common objective, outcomes, performance indicators and outputs.
