Staff costs account for 64 per cent of the regular budget, of which 60 per cent represents the cost of area staff and four per cent represents the cost of international staff.

The recommendation for the selection of staff against these positions will be subject to the review of the OHCHR internal Advisory Panel on Personnel Issues (APPI) to ensure a fair and transparent staff selection mechanism.

The Office of the Chief Executive Officer comprises the Chief Executive Officer, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, the Senior Legal Officer, the Special Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer, and conference support and administrative staff.

It is expected that this division, once staffed and fully operational, will embark on systematic staff development and succession planning programmes.

The recruitment of additional personnel is well under way and the selection process will conclude in July.
