The secretariat will take these meetings into account in making travel arrangements for those participants for whom assistance is provided.

Relevant information and communication technology tools such as bulletin boards and discussion forums should be developed to enhance such coordination arrangements.

A staff member availing himself or herself of such an arrangement shall be free to make his or her own travel arrangements, without restriction on the choice of travel agent or mode, route and standard of travel.

(j) Issuance of laissez passer and other travel documents, provision of official travel, shipment, related insurance requirements, and operation and maintenance of transportation facilities

Subject to such arrangements as may be necessary for the safeguarding of confidential material, full and prompt exchange of appropriate information and documents shall be made between the United Nations and the World Tourism Organization.

The Secretariat will allow for these meetings in making travel arrangements for those delegates for whom they provide assistance. Thursday and Friday will be convened as a ministerial level segment.

Officials of the World Tourism Organization shall be entitled, in accordance with such special arrangements as may be concluded between the Secretary General of the United Nations and the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization, to use laissez passer of the United Nations.

Thus, the Board is concerned that the preparations undertaken so far could to some extent become irrelevant if the funding arrangements, as well as the appropriate legal arrangements, are not promptly finalized.

Thanks to the generosity of the Government of Switzerland, which provided funding, the secretariat was able to make travel arrangements enabling the attendance at the meeting of one representative from each developing country or country with economy in transition.
