Under her leadership, the Government is committed to ensuring equal rights for men and women.

The European Commission had recognized Croatia's stable institutions, its basic laws ensuring equality between men and women and its institutional structures to promote and monitor gender equality.

There are some aspects of inequality of rights between men and women that need to be repaired urgently.

A clarification was needed as article 2 of the Convention called for the principle of the equality of men and women to be embodied in national constitutions, while article 15 referred to equality before the law of women and men.

The Married Persons Equality Act makes eighteen (18) years the age of consent for entry into civil marriage for both sexes, and men and women are equal before the law.

School curricula must be changed in such a way as to introduce the principles of equality between men and women in gender relations.

That is why equal rights for men and women in Tajikistan are also guaranteed on the basis of the Convention.

Chapter IV. Institutions or authorities responsible for overseeing respect of the principle of equality between men and women

(a) The provisions of the Family Code are based on the principle of equal rights for men and women in family relations.

Several of its provisions need to be amended to guarantee equality between men and women within the family.

Article 3 Equal rights of women and men

Serving as the basis for the State policy ensuring equal rights and opportunities for men and women is a principle according to which any State measures and actions that are adopted must be geared to the achievement of social equality for men and women.

The participation of men and boys in attaining gender equality was coherent with the empowerment of women and girls.

I would note that equality between men and women has now been included as a general principle in article 3.

202. The Constitution of Yemen guaranteed equal rights and duties to all, without distinguishing between men and women.

We shall continue to foster complete equality between men and women and to increase the contribution of women to social progress and development.

We also encourage full gender equality, which will eliminate stereotypes of the image of women in order to allow egalitarian access to education and employment for women.

Finally, to support or to complement the clause of the Constitution that guarantees gender equality, laws have been enacted to prohibit discrimination on the basis of sex and while many efforts have been made to promote gender equality, due to some cultural and traditional barriers it will take a while before meaningful equality between men and women could be realized.

Civil legislation must therefore be brought into conformity with the constitutional provisions recognizing absolute equality between men and women in all spheres of life.

With respect to the question of equity versus equality, the Committee wished to reiterate that the Convention referred exclusively to equality between men and women.

The Constitution provides for absolute equality between men and women and also stipulates the State's obligation to eliminate de facto obstacles to equality between Nicaraguans and to their participation in all spheres of life.

One important strategy for enhancing the enabling environment for gender equality would be to more directly and explicitly link the legal and policy frameworks for promoting gender equality.

4.1 States shall ensure the equal right of men and women, and the equal right of boys and girls, to housing, land and property restitution.

A partnership between men and women on the basis of equal rights and responsibilities is the challenge for the modern family.

Gender equality involves modifying the gender roles of men, a redistribution of the reproductive and productive work so that it is shared evenly, and reforming private and public institutions.
