The Committee will receive an oral update, pending final action by the General Assembly.

The issue of the reform of the Security Council continues to be among those issues addressed at the annual general debate of the General Assembly.

Implementation of an audit recommendation tracking dashboard atnc (http audit dashboard.undp.org) and Establishment of a quality assurance function with responsibility for working with country offices and the audit office to address emerging issues proactively, to analyse trends and to address systemic issues.

Participants discussed the possibility of issuing joint general comments recommendations on issues of common concern, and agreed that these would strengthen the role of the general comments.

Fund raising will be a priority issue considered by the Board at its next session, together with the various policy issues indicated above.

These matters will be addressed in a separate report to be submitted to the Assembly at its current session, given the system wide nature of the issues concerned.

Allow me also to touch upon issues related to a fourth special session of the General Assembly devoted to disarmament (SSOD IV).

Public issues are a common good, a field of application of democracy and the essence of Agenda 21.

It has also indicated that its financial and technical needs would be determined upon successful resolution of those issues.

At the same meeting, the Committee decided to review future strategic directions for revitalizing public administration in the light of emerging global issues.

Our comments as a group, therefore, will be confined to general issues of common concern at this stage, but we will be contributing in depth on the specific issues when they arise during consultations on various clusters of the review.

In addition, the establishment of a United Nations ethics office will provide a focal point within the Secretariat for ethics issues.
