All the major groups except for local authorities have participated in these dialogues.

With the broad engagement of major groups, the thirteenth session of the Commission demonstrated that the participation of representatives of major groups could be more effectively integrated into the work of the Commission (see sect. VI below).

Major groups' participation included representatives from 46 accredited organizations.

The importance of this issue, and the need for further action, is also highlighted by major groups.

Countries welcome the greater participation of major groups and the support that they have received from the secretariat.

CPF members encourage major groups to participate in voluntary national reporting.

In order that stakeholder involvement may be enhanced, participation by major groups continues to be strengthened.

The meat group is one of the major compacted food groups in the food guide pyramid.

Major groups continue to play multiple roles in sustainable development at various levels.

During the closing plenary meeting, all nine major groups were given an opportunity to provide final comments.

In order to integrate major group participation more fully with the general discussion, the multi stakeholder dialogue will be interspersed throughout the two week session and representatives of major groups will present relevant perspectives during the plenary and the high level ministerial segment.

Major groups also note that progress has been made, but suggest that further clarification of social aspects is needed.

In addition, major groups continued to interact with experts and delegates throughout thematic discussions.

Encourages effective contributions from, and the active participation of, all major groups, as identified in Agenda 21, at all stages of the preparatory process, in accordance with the rules and procedures of the Commission on Sustainable Development, as well as its established practices related to the participation and engagement of major groups

It is one of the 30 major soil groups of the World Reference Base for Soil Resources.

The involvement of major groups in the work of the Forum featured prominently in the multi year programme of work.

It is noteworthy that during the past year three organization led initiatives were organized by major groups.

The level and quality of participation by major group representatives have improved since the Forum was established.

Welcoming also the activities of major groups related to the preparations for the Summit, and encouraging them to carry out further preparatory activities,

Major groups prepared substantive inputs to the meeting of the Ad Hoc Expert Group on Consideration with a View to Recommending the Parameters of a Mandate for Developing a Legal Framework on All Types of Forests, and major group representatives presented their perspectives at a panel discussion during this meeting.

There is also a growing spirit of collaboration and partnership among the different groups as major group organizations continue to seek ways of leveraging each other's strengths and constituencies.

Many more are feared as violence among the main sectarian groups escalates.

18. Recalls that meetings held by regional and other major groupings of Member States are provided with interpretation services on an ad hoc basis, in accordance with established practice

Building on this outcome, the major group focal points decided to develop discussion papers that would include priorities for action and goals for the future.

The outcomes of the Major Group Forum will also be presented at the fifth session of the United Nations Forum on Forests.

Within the constraints of the available accommodation, such representatives of major groups and other observers will be free to attend the plenary sessions in accordance with established practice.

On the first day of the meeting, the Commission held a two hour session during which major groups presented the views contained in their papers.

A total of more than 600 major groups representatives from 142 different organizations attended these meetings.
