It is important to further such support with practical projects at the national level to implement the Convention on Biological Diversity guidelines.

Each Party to the Stockholm Convention is required to develop and endeavour to implement a plan for the implementation of its obligations under the Convention.

To reverse these trends, all Governments should take steps, individually and collectively, to implement the Convention on Biological Diversity8 and the Johannesburg commitment to achieve a significant reduction in the rate of loss of biodiversity by 2010.9
