Switzerland's most important economic sector is manufacturing.

While many international, regional and national biotechnology federations and associations have codes of conduct which include specific mention of biological weapons, this appears not to be the case for the pharmaceutical research and manufacturing sector.

The industrial sector includes manufacturing, mining, and utilities.

To accelerate economic growth, the priority has been to stimulate investment and recovery in manufacturing, the sector that was hardest hit by the international crisis.
