The proposed additional requirements provide for 39 additional staff as follows

57,805,600 under civilian personnel for the deployment of 1,109 international and 1,549 national staff and 543 United Nations Volunteers, including 134 additional international staff and 194 additional national staff and 52 additional United Nations Volunteers

The estimated additional requirements under subprogramme 1 include proposals for 15 additional staff for mediation support, as follows

Additional resources were also needed in the area of staff development.

Additional prosecutors and judges have been appointed to staff those courts.

In the revised budget, the Secretary General proposes an increase in civilian personnel by 698 over the level approved in the initial budget for 2004 05 190 additional international staff, 393 additional national staff and 115 additional United Nations Volunteers.

As a result, additional monitoring staff at the Commission will be recruited.

Special additional rules are also being developed for staff engaged in procurement activities.

As a result, the Department has organized additional training for selected staff members.

As detailed in paragraph 16 above, these two additional floors could accommodate 188 staff.

The additional resources of 2.5 million under general temporary assistance relate to the temporary recruitment of 17 additional international staff and 30 national personnel.

The amount of 1,075,000 provides for the salaries, common staff costs and staff assessment for five continuing posts and one additional post (P 3).

The amount of 3,921,600 provides for general temporary assistance, common staff costs, staff assessment and mission subsistence allowance, when applicable, for the 25 additional positions.

The accommodation for the additional staff located in peacekeeping missions will be provided by the missions.

Additional specialized staff were assigned to the three units, indicating a higher priority for this work.

(c) Additional resource requirements of 324,700 dollars under section 35, Staff assessment, to be offset by an equivalent amount under income section 1, Income from staff assessment

The additional requirements were attributable mainly to higher than budgeted actual average payments for salaries and common staff costs to local staff during the 12 month period.

The amount of 2,088,800 provides for the salaries, common staff costs and staff assessment for seven continuing posts and one additional post at the P 3 level.

The recruitment of 179 additional civilian staff is under way (69 international, 85 national and 25 UNVs).

There would also be reductions in helicopter requirements, although 11 additional posts for national staff would be required.

The communication requirements for the additional staff located in the peacekeeping missions will be provided by the missions.

It is of the opinion that additional national staff should also be provided for through general temporary assistance.

Technical assistance activities of the TPB, including additional staff required for their delivery, are financed from voluntary contributions.

With respect to French translations, the Tribunal has redeployed resources in order to recruit additional French language staff.

The Mission absorbed additional requirements which arose under common staff costs for departing staff who were either repatriated or reassigned to newly established missions, as well as for the conversion of 16 staff from appointments of limited duration to the 100 Series Staff Rules.

(d) Furniture for the additional staff in New York ( 7,300), Vienna ( 28,700) and Nairobi ( 28,700), based on standard costs.

An additional amount of 237,700 would be required under section 35, Staff assessment, to be offset by an equivalent amount of income under income section 1, Income from staff assessment.

It is important to emphasize that this process requires exploring all physical aspects of the additional positions, including the adaptation of the relevant equipment, preparation of the staff and additional activities.

For this reason, additional rounds of consultation with the staff have been conducted on the terms of the new policy.

(c) Office supplies for the additional staff in New York ( 100), Vienna ( 500) and Nairobi ( 500), based on standard costs

According to the final design, each additional typical floor of 1,390 square metres could accommodate a total of 94 staff.

Significant lead times are also involved in arranging additional accommodation in New York for the central staff of the Department.

Additional measures for staff retention are proposed by the Tribunals in document A 60 436, discussed in section V below.

The additional requirements of 20,263,800 for national staff are attributed to the revised salary scales which became effective 1 March 2004.

But additional efforts are needed in terms of contributing military and police staff, disarmament, stabilizing the political system and rebuilding Haiti.

To strengthen its security arrangements, UNOCI has requested an additional 24 international and 19 national staff posts (see para. 61 above).

As indicated in paragraph 8 above, the present commitment authority request includes 328 additional posts (134 international staff and 194 national staff) and 52 United Nations Volunteer positions to support the Mission's expansion.

(b) Rental of office equipment for the additional staff in New York ( 100), Vienna ( 500) and Nairobi ( 500), based on standard costs

In this light, an additional staff report will be presented for consideration by the Development Committee at its 17 April 2005 meeting.

Building the necessary capacity calls for additional specialized staff, and for training that addresses requirements in specific job functions and geographical situations.

Regarding a one time staff buyout, my delegation can go along with it only if it can be implemented without additional resources.

The estimate also provides for the phased deployment of additional 170 international and 470 national staff and 154 United Nations Volunteers, and reflects increased provisions for air mobility assets as well as additional infrastructure and ground transportation resources in support of the elections and additional personnel.

PAHO and WHO estimate that an additional 350 doctors, 2,000 nurses, and 2,200 support staff will be required over the next three months.

However, UNPOS could not shoulder its expanded responsibilities with five international and two local staff it would need additional financial and human resources.

The amount of 5,452,600 provides for the salaries, common staff costs and staff assessment for 23 continuing posts, one additional post at the P 4 level and the reclassification of two posts (P 4 to P 5).
