UNICEF is updating the Supply Division emergency preparedness and response plan.

The plan includes five key areas surveillance, immunization, health services, communications and emergency preparedness.

In paragraph 115, the Board recommended that UNICEF update the Supply Division's emergency preparedness and response plan.

Work with municipalities and others is proceeding on a West Nile Virus protection, preparedness plan, and response plans.

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Telecommunication Standardization Advisory Group proposed an action plan in March 2005 to develop technical standards in support of telecommunications for disaster preparedness and early warning.

C. Regional disaster response preparedness activities

For this reason Norway has taken the lead in IAEA in the development of the IAEA International Action Plan for Strengthening the International Preparedness and Response System for Nuclear and Radiological Emergencies.

Short term needs associated with the disengagement plan are likely to include the pre positioning of supplies, food commodities and preparedness of emergency services, in anticipation of potential political or security contingencies during and immediately after Israeli withdrawal.

Malaysia itself had been awakened to the need for disaster preparedness by the recent Indian Ocean tsunami, and expected soon to have an operational warning system, as well as a forest fire management plan utilizing remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS) technologies.

To this end, preventive, preparedness and response measures, including restoration measures, shall be applied.
