The good news is that, following President Hu Jintao s recent visit to Washington, both America and China have been taking positive steps to resolve their differences over the bilateral current account balance.

Oil accounts for 40 of exports and contributes to maintaining a positive trade balance.

In the end, debt relief has a positive impact on a country's balance of payments, as the Government transfers fewer resources to foreign creditors, but does not ease the budgetary burden faced by the Government.
