Supply

Food and Nutrition Despite the rapid progress made in food production and processing, mal nutrition continues to be a major area of concern for public health.

Recognizing that health and nutrition outcomes are not the results of action in the health and nutrition sectors alone, UNICEF will build on its intersectoral experience to promote innovative approaches to address immediate and underlying determinants of maternal, newborn and child health and nutrition.

WFP also participated in the ongoing work of the UNSCN working groups on HIV AIDS, household food security, school health and nutrition, nutrition in emergencies and micronutrients.

Global health and nutrition partnerships have been instrumental in advocating for and raising the profile of health and nutrition for mothers and children both nationally and internationally.

WFP's Nutrition Service played a substantial role in UNSCN activities.

More attention should be given to unintentional injuries intergenerational approaches to nutrition, including maternal nutrition breastfeeding and infant and young child feeding and social, psychological and emotional issues.
