Deforestation has proceeded to the extent that not many SIDS have much natural forest left.

Examples include natural fibres, organic agricultural products, recyclable and biodegradable products or sustainably produced forest products.

In addition, considerable efforts are being made to improve natural forest management and recover forest loss through the Forestry Incentives Programme of the National Forestry Institute (INAB).

To this end, forest restoration, the natural expansion of forest and the establishment of plantation forests have helped, to some extent, in countering degradation of forest ecosystems and to bring environmental, commercial and social benefits to society.
