Implementation of results based management in the International Labour Organization

One of the earliest, in the brewing industry, was between the Philippines Congress of Independent Organisations Associated Labour Unions and San Miguel Corporation and provided for labour management cooperation in all matters relating to the environment.

The key challenge for New Labour (as Blair re styled it with his characteristic gift for spin), was the management of the British economy.

Under that project, aimed at eliminating stereotypes and creating equal employment opportunities for men and women, training seminars were offered to representatives of labour and management.

The review, however, is also intended to serve as a management tool for the International Labour Office to enable it to implement more effectively the policy decisions and management practices adopted by the Governing Body.

Member State pressure for rational division of labour within the United Nations may inspire recognition of UNOPS unique role as an operational project management, contracting and complex procurement entity.

The Governing Body of the ILO requested its Director General to arrange for an external evaluation of the implementation of results based management in the International Labour Organization and the International Labour Office, to be submitted for its consideration during its 294th session, to take place in November 2005.

The International Labour Office has since asked the Unit to conduct an evaluation of the Office's implementation of strategic management and budgeting based on the benchmarks defined in the series of reports.

Recently adopted legislation included the new Labour Law, the Law on Labour Protection, a number of regulations of the Cabinet of Ministers on employment and labour protection and the Administrative Procedure Law.

These include the Women Labour Research Center under the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, which has been renamed as Women Labour and Gender Research Center.

Changes in other relevant legislation on the labour market occurred in autumn 2000, with adoption of the Law on Changes and Amendments of Labour Law in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Labour Law in Republika Srpska, which introduced modern labour legislation and rescinded lay off .

In addition, within the context of projects to eliminate child labour, national child labour surveys often provide statistical information about overtime child labour trends and are used as inputs for policy making.

Absence of protection of labour laws to agricultural labour, the area where most women workers are active, also needs to be considered.
