Persons with disabilities continue to be deprived of equal access to public places and there are no facilities for the blind and hearing impaired in schools these serve to further marginalize persons with disabilities.

However, the availability of one doctor for 1,466 persons, one dentist for 29,405 people, one nurse for 3,347 and one hospital bed for 1,517 persons underlines the need for further improvement in the physical infrastructure.

To further the integration of persons with disabilities in society, Bahrain adopted a comprehensive strategy to promote the rights and equal opportunities of persons with disabilities, with special emphasis on the needs of women with disabilities.

(s) To make further efforts to address effectively the problem of internally displaced persons, including ensuring their access to effective protection and assistance

Further, transfers or deportations of protected persons from occupied territories are specifically prohibited by and constitute grave breaches of the Fourth Geneva Convention.

Some speakers stressed that addressing the root causes of trafficking in persons might include further efforts to deal with issues related to demand.

A more coordinated response to protection and assistance for internally displaced persons could help stabilize volatile political situations and prevent further population displacement, including cross border movement.

The introduction of fuel efficient stoves in camps for internally displaced persons has further reduced the exposure of girls and women venturing outside the camps in search of fuel wood.

Further calls upon States that have not already done so to consider accession to the Convention on the Reduction of Statelessness and the Convention relating to the Status of Stateless Persons

Conscious of the human rights and the humanitarian dimensions of the problem of internally displaced persons and the responsibilities of States and the international community to strengthen further their protection and assistance,

While welcoming the State party's detailed reply concerning prison conditions, he would appreciate further clarification concerning its worrying statement that food rations could be significantly reduced for persons accused of serious offences.

In addition to the survey, the past year included activities at all levels to monitor and further the implementation of the Standard Rules for the Equalization of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities.
