31.11 The resource requirements of 1,634,700, including a decrease of 64,800, are based on expenditure experience over the period 2001 2004.

Table 2 shows the requirements by objects of expenditure in the 2006 2007 biennium, compared with those of the current biennium.

The net decrease of 25,200 is attributable mainly to lower requirements in other staff costs based on the current pattern of expenditure.

The net reduction of 91,200 reflects additional requirements of 39,700 relating to the travel of representatives, offset by reduced requirements, based on the pattern of expenditure, for other staff costs ( 75,500), travel of staff ( 42,800) and general operating expenses ( 12,600).

Actual expenditure exceeded budgeted expenditure by 0.5 per cent.

Compliance by country offices with nationally executed expenditure and the audit requirements of non governmental organizations has also been reflected in the annual performance evaluation of UNFPA representatives.

However, owing to the slower than anticipated pace of trial activities in the biennium 2004 2005, various objects of expenditure reflect a lower than anticipated level of requirements.
