The ad hoc group agreed that the board should disclose whether it has a performance evaluation process in place, either for the board as a whole or for individual members. Disclosure should be made of how the board has evaluated its performance and how the results of the appraisal are being used.

The summary of the evaluation is submitted to the Board with a view to presenting the final report and the management response for full discussion in January 2005.

The Board appreciated the efforts made by the secretariat, United Nations field presences and United Nations funds and programmes to undertake evaluation missions of both ongoing and new projects.
