Transport of dangerous goods in Norway is regulated through the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR) and Regulations concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Rail (RID) respectively. Since 1.

The Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods and on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals held its second session in Geneva on 10 December 2004.

Regulations on operations and transport involving dangerous goods

In relation to import and export controls of Dangerous Goods (DG), Brunei Darussalam has fully implemented the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code.

In addition, both ports control dangerous cargo by implementing the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG Code).

The Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods and on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals recommends to the Economic and Social Council the adoption of the following draft resolution

Implementation of the Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods Model Regulations

The proposal will be revised by the task force on the basis of comments received and then circulated to the OECD Task Force on Harmonization of Classification and Labelling, the United Nations Subcommittee of Experts on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling and the United Nations Subcommittee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods.

The Protocol provides for the simplification of procedures and requirements for the transit transport of dangerous goods in ASEAN countries, using the Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods Model Regulations and the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Goods by Road.

(h) The general provisions applicable to loading of dangerous goods and transport operations

Requests the Secretary General to submit a report to the Economic and Social Council in 2005 on the implementation of the present resolution, the Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods and the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals.

Similar requirements apply for aviation and maritime, which are included in the International Civil Aviation Organisation's Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air and the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code respectively.

The focus is instead on generating revenues and protecting the country from dangerous goods.

In paragraph 2 and 3 it is regulated that the shipper must mark and label the dangerous goods and that it has an obligation to inform the carrier of the dangerous nature or character of the goods.

Also requests the Secretary General to submit a report to the Economic and Social Council in 2005 on the implementation of the present resolution, the recommendations on the transport of dangerous goods and on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals.

16.12 This strategy also applies to the Economic and Social Council Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods and the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals and its subsidiary bodies, to which the Transport Division also provides a secretariat.

(g) The development of alternative groupings for the classification, based primarily on the goods or services produced, independently of skill level.

The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific published, in 1997, Guidelines for the Establishment of National and Regional Systems for Inland Transportation of Dangerous Goods,16 recommending the implementation of the recommendations on the transport of dangerous goods.

With respect to domestic inland transport of dangerous goods in individual countries, except as described above, implementation of the recommendations on the transport of dangerous goods may vary considerably depending on the national procedures for enacting law or updating regulations.

In the import, export and transit of dangerous goods, as firearms, special measures are taken concerning security.

In these security provisions, general provisions are set out to minimize theft or misuse of dangerous goods.

The security of such materials by road and rail in Great Britain, along with other dangerous goods, is regulated by the DfT through security regulations included in the Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations 2004 as amended.

(f) The listing and classification of some existing and new dangerous substances and articles and related packing methods and the revision of some packing requirements

Dangerous goods are solids, liquids, or gases that can harm people, other living organisms, property, or the environment.
