We have reached agreement on the Peacebuilding Commission.

The reconstitution of the Independent Electoral Commission was envisaged under the Agreement in conformity with the provisions of the Linas Marcoussis Agreement.

As reiterated by the Commission in Resolution its resolution 2005 53, the Sub Commission should not engage in monitoring other thanexcept with the agreement of the Commission.

As of December 2007, Barbados is linked by an Economic Partnership Agreement with the European Commission.

(b) Difficulty in reaching overall agreement among political parties on the internal rules of the Independent Electoral Commission and the need to reach such an agreement quickly the installation and operationalization of the Commission is a prerequisite to starting the electoral process

I understand that there is a general agreement among the members of the Commission that those representatives should be elected officers of the Commission for this year.

The Pacific Islands Forum leaders welcomed the agreement reached at the world summit to establish a Peacebuilding Commission.

The Commission will proceed with the demarcation if and when the parties can reach agreement on its resumption.

The adoption of legislation on public broadcasting and agreement on police restructuring in line with European Commission principles remained the outstanding conditions required by the European Commission Feasibility Study.

The US cannot reach a trade agreement or settle anti trust cases without the approval of the EU Commission.

We call on Member States to reach an agreement as soon as possible to make the Peacebuilding Commission operational.

That is why I particularly welcome the agreement reached during the summit on the establishment of a Peacebuilding Commission.

The government also secured EU wide agreement that, rather than reducing the size of the European Commission, Ireland will be allowed to retain a permanent place at the Commission table.

The Commission, which was established in full agreement with the Government of Lebanon, became fully operational on 16 June 2005.

I also wish to thank Ambassador Revaz Adamia of Georgia, Chairman of the Commission at its 2004 session, for his strenuous efforts to reach agreement on a substantive agenda for the Commission.

With the expected finalization of the agreement with the European Commission, project activities in the zone of conflict are expected to increase.

In particular, the Agreement took as a given that both parties would respect the delimitation and demarcation determinations of the Boundary Commission.

(e) Economic Commission for Europe European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Inland Waterways (ADN 2005), for application as from 1 January 2005

The Monitoring Committee, established under the Linas Marcoussis Agreement, and the tripartite Monitoring Group have reviewed the legislation on the Independent Electoral Commission and the nationality laws from the perspective of their conformity with the letter and spirit of the Linas Marcoussis Agreement.

The Commission welcomes the Haitian transitional authorities' agreement to the opening of an office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, as mentioned in the Chairperson's statements made at the fifty ninth and sixtieth sessions of the Commission.

An agreement on the establishment of the Truth and Friendship Commission was signed by Presidents Gusmão and Yudhoyono and Prime Minister Alkatiri in Jakarta on 9 March.

The summit agreement to establish a peacebuilding commission will make a major contribution to a better coordinated international response to the needs of countries emerging from conflict.

Furthermore, no agreement has been reached on the restructuring of the Commission to ensure its independence, or on the Government's financial commitment to sustain the new structure.

Successor Agreement to the International Agreement on

In the endeavours to monitor and verify compliance by the parties with their commitments under the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, we see the United Nations acting in concert with other players within the framework of the assessment and evaluation commission, as stipulated in the Peace Agreement.

The Chairman said he took it that the Commission agreed that derogation could be either explicit or implicit and that that agreement should be reflected in the commentary.
