The proposed revision is currently under review at the Senate.

The proposed revision was not accepted by the other sponsors.

The proposed ISIC Rev.4 structure has 21 top level sections instead of the 17 contained in ISIC Rev.3.

Revised proposals shall be voted on in the order in which the original proposals were submitted, unless the revision substantially departs from the original proposal.

The submission of the final structure for the proposed International Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities, Revision 4, to the present session of the Statistical Commission concludes a programme of work that has spanned several years.

The revision process was started by identifying general conceptual issues, defining the scope of the revision, elaborating and reviewing explicit proposals and finally updating the detailed structure and explanatory notes of the classification.

A user's guide is planned for the ISIC, Revision 4.

This experimental revision was called IMAP2bis its specification was never published in non draft form.

They agreed that the revision should be seen as a part of building an integrated economic statistics programme.

This revision was suggested by the delegation of France and has been supported by a number of interested delegations.
